A brand new feature of the DJ Wiki is the "History of the DJ Industry." Please add dates that are significant to the industry and it's growth. Note that this history of the industry is being written by people mainly connected with the national industry and conventions and many events are tied to such. Please feel free to add entries that are connected with such.

1877 - Thomas Edison invents the Photograph and later in 1878 patents it

1955 - Bob Casey's Two Turntable DJ system debuts at Sock Hops

1972 - Technics SL-1200 series starts production

1976 - Canadian Disc Jockey Association formed

1983 - Phillips launches first cd player

1987 - Spinnin first published by Robert Lindquist

1988 - DJ Times becomes the first magazine for DJs

1980s - American Disc Jockey Association formed

1991 - Mobile Beat Magazine first publishes

1995 - ProDJ.Com launches

1996 - National Association of Mobile Entertainers formed

1998 - DJ Zone formed

1999 - Mark Ferrell starts "Worth Movement"

2004 - Disc Jockey News first publishes (first as Midwest DJ News)

2006 - Mobile Beat acquired by ProDJ Publishing (ProDJ.Com)
