Note that this history of the industry is being written by people mainly connected with the national industry and conventions and many events are tied to such. 1877 - Thomas Edison invents the Photograph and later in 1878 patents it

1955 - Bob Casey's Two Turntable DJ system debuts at Sock Hops

1972 - Technics SL-1200 series starts production

1976 - Canadian Disc Jockey Association formed

1983 - Phillips launches first cd player

1987 - Spinnin first published by Robert Lindquist

1988 - DJ Times becomes the first magazine for DJs

1980s - American Disc Jockey Association formed

1991 - Mobile Beat Magazine first publishes

1995 - ProDJ.Com launches

1996 - National Association of Mobile Entertainers formed

1998 - DJ Zone formed

1999 - Mark Ferrell starts "Worth Movement"

2004 - Disc Jockey News first publishes (first as Midwest DJ News)

2006 - Mobile Beat acquired by ProDJ Publishing (ProDJ.Com)
